Hampton Institute: Learning the Building Trades

Hampton Institute. Learning the building trades. We need both, book learning and the building trades. Let’s not be divided over this issue. We need both. Booker T. Washington and W.E.B. Dubois were right. The enemy to Black progress during this era attempted to divide the two as if one form of education was better than the other. But if you noticed, within their own system they provided Black youth with access to both liberal arts education and the building trades. In some instances, they recommended acquiring both.

A Building Trades Education was part of The African American Educational History. Please help and support NSTN in bringing back the Building Trades to its respectful place in the African American community. Skilled Artisans and Builders are in great need today. Our young people need these opportunities today more than ever.
